To help us achieve our mission of being one of the most admired UK digital businesses, we have built a simple, lean and non-hierarchical business that is centred around its people. Our colleagues are organised into high-performing, data-oriented squads to ensure we are agile and quick to respond to change.
We value our people and their opinions. Therefore, we organise an annual employee conference where all colleagues get the chance to get together to celebrate our achievements and share the strategy for the year ahead. We also hold regular business and financial updates throughout the year to keep employees informed on the Group’s performance and priorities, and give them the opportunity to feedback and contribute with questions and ideas.

92% of our people feel proud to work for Auto Trader and 89% say they would recommend us as a great place to work. Our Glassdoor rating, based on 250 anonymous reviews, is 4.5.
In 2019 we achieved a two-star ‘Outstanding’ rating in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For, and featured 32nd in the list.
We are proud of our high employee satisfaction levels; we believe that happy employees do better work. However, we recognise there are still areas to improve, and we work hard to ensure all our employees feel supported, included and inspired.
We have set up working groups to improve recognition, career development and physical and mental health. We also hold regular ‘health checks’ that allow squads to sit down together in an open and secure environment to discuss how they feel in the workplace.
Our Incredible Benefits platforms allow our employees to access all the benefits offered at Auto Trader in one place. As part of our company funded benefits, we offer all employees either Private Medical Insurance (employee level) or Health Cash Plan (up to family level). Training and development
Investing in our people is a key focus for Auto Trader. We offer blended learning opportunities that are aligned to our collaborative and inclusive culture. All new people joining our business are given a brilliant start to their careers with us by attending a three-day induction programme that allows them to understand the core values of our business and help achieve a one-team culture.
Every individual is responsible for their own career and personal development. Everybody aims to have quarterly development conversations and personal development plans with their people leaders. We appreciate that everyone has unique needs and likes to learn in different ways, so we offer a mixture of learning initiatives including workshops, bitesize sessions, on-the-job solutions, conferences, coaching and mentoring, online learning and professional qualifications.
We appreciate that everyone has their own unique set of circumstances and challenges around wellbeing. Consequently, we have consciously built our wellbeing strategy around three core pillars: mental; physical; and financial wellbeing. Approaching health from a holistic perspective helped us derive the concept of having "more good days at work".
As part of this we have 20 newly qualified Mental Health First Aiders and have developed our People Leads in the challenges around mental ill health to equip our managers with the knowledge to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and give them the confidence to guide their people towards appropriate support.
To support our financial wellbeing strand, we partnered with a mortgage broker who offered free, no obligation one-to-one mortgage advice sessions.
